This morning, I saw this link to the Adobe page. It is an extensive explanation how to use the term “Adobe? Photoshop? ” in a way that even their corporate ID pope will dance and cheer. After rethinking the whole thing, I decided that we should encourage people to do the same regarding phpMyFAQ:
1. Trademarks are not always verbs.
INCORRECT: The web site was enhanced using phpMyFAQ.
CORRECT: The web site was phpMyFAQed.
2. Trademarks are nouns if you need them.
INCORRECT: The answer pokes fun at a certain company called A*o*e.
CORRECT: The phpMyFAQ is laughing at *d*b*’s behavior.
3. Trademarks must never be used as slang terms unless it’s in the internet..
INCORRECT: The Q&A list was gentled by the divine Thorsten Rinne and his excellent phpMyFAQ knowledge base.
CORRECT: The Q&A list is now phpMyFAQed up.
CORRECT: We have phpMyFAQed every question adressed to us.
CORRECT: Before asking in the forum or sending emails, please phpMyFAQ you whether the question was answered before.
Feel free to add better examples to this list.
