This release updates the Turkish translation, includes some minor fixes and improvements in the install script and has many minor bugfixes reported the last couple of days. Friday, June 12th, 2009The phpMyFAQ Team would like to announce the availability of the first release candidate of our next generation release, phpMyFAQ 2.5.0-RC, the “Anne Frank” release. With this release we removed the last Prototype based JavaScript code, we added visual Ajax indicators in administration backend, a new Image and File Manager in administration backend, and we added a translation frontend for editing and sharing phpMyFAQ’s translation files. We also improved some language files and fixed a lot of bugs. Do not use this version in production systems, but test this version and report bugs!
Status update for phpMyFAQ 2.5.0-RC
Monday, June 8th, 2009Today we re-added a new Image and File Manager for phpMyFAQ 2.5. The new component is fully Ajax-based and very cool to handle. We also fixed some bugs reported by some beta testers.

All users of affected phpMyFAQ versions are encouraged to upgrade as soon as possible to this latest versions! A detailed security advisory is available. phpMyFAQ 2.5 and 2.6 are not vulnerable!
phpMyFAQ 2.5.0-beta Released!
Monday, May 4th, 2009The phpMyFAQ team is pleased to announce the beta version of our next generation release, phpMyFAQ 2.5.0-beta, the “Audrey Hepburn” release. We added new administration layout, a frontend for search logs statistics, sticky FAQ records, a smart answering for user questions, a string wrapper for better UTF-8 handling, and an ajaxified comment and record administration. We updated the bundled jQuery to version 1.3.2, the bundled TinyMCE editor component to version 3.2.2.3, and the bundled Net_IDNA to version 0.6.3. We removed Prototype and Script.aculo.us, and we fixed a lot of bugs. Do not use this version in production systems, but test this version and report bugs!
phpMyFAQ 2.0.13 Released!
Monday, April 20th, 2009The phpMyFAQ team is pleased to announce phpMyFAQ 2.0.13, the “David Soria Parra” release. This release adds new blocked words for spam protection, fixes a fatal error with PHP 5.3, a redirect problem with multiviews in .htaccess, and a problem with visible questions in RSS feed. It also fixes some minor issues.

Monday, March 9th, 2009The phpMyFAQ team is pleased to announce the second preview of our next generation release, phpMyFAQ 2.5.0-alpha2, the “Yuri Gagarin” release. We migrated a lot of code to PHP 5.2 and dropped the support for MySQL 4.0, MaxDB and XML-RPC. We added LDAP and HTP authentication, a new mail subsystem, and a list of the most popular searches. We added jQuery 1.3 as new Ajax backend and updated FPDF and TinyMCE. Do not use this version in production systems, but test this version and report bugs!

International PHP Conference 2008
Friday, October 24th, 2008Next week I’ll be 5 days in Mainz, Germany, attending the annual International PHP Conference. This year I’ll give one full day work shop with Lars from Swoodoo and my boss at Mayflower, Johann. Our topic on monday, october 27th, is Theory and practice – migrating your legacy code into our modern test driven development world. I’ll give an own session on thursday, october 30th, about Quality in PHP projects beyond Unittests. On Tuesday and wednesday you’ll find me at the Mayflower booth.

We also switched our repository from CVS to SVN.

Sunday, May 18th, 2008The phpMyFAQ team is pleased to announce the first preview of our next generation release, phpMyFAQ 2.5.0-alpha, the “Yes, we kicked PHP 4 support finally” release. This release changes the PHP requirement to PHP 5.2 and introduces the new and improved new basic layout theme. We added RSS feeds for every category and the ability to copy and duplicate FAQ entries. The template engine now supports blocks in template files. A public user registration was added and we improved the user administration frontend. Do not use this version in production systems, but test this version and report bugs!
