International PHP Conference 2008

Next week I’ll be 5 days in Mainz, Germany, attending the annual International PHP Conference. This year I’ll give one full day work shop with Lars from Swoodoo and my boss at Mayflower, Johann. Our topic on monday, october 27th, is Theory and practice – migrating your legacy code into our modern test driven development world. I’ll give an own session on thursday, october 30th, about Quality in PHP projects beyond Unittests. On Tuesday and wednesday you’ll find me at the Mayflower booth.

phpMyFAQ 2.0.9 Released!

The phpMyFAQ team is pleased to announce phpMyFAQ 2.0.9, the “Everyone I know goes away in the end” release. This release improves the spam detection and fixes some bugs introduced with version 2.0.8. This release is dedicated to my uncle Werner, who passed away this week.

The phpMyFAQ Team would like to announce the availability of phpMyFAQ 2.0.8, the “9/11 memorial” release. This release fixes a security issue, some errors with MS SQL and IBM DB2 support and we fixed some minor bugs. The French and Serbian translations were updated. We also switched our repository from CVS to SVN.

The phpMyFAQ Team hereby announces that support for phpMyFAQ 2.0 will continue until the end of this year only. We hope to release the PHP 5.2 only version phpMyFAQ 2.5 in the second half of this year.

phpMyFAQ 2.5.0-alpha Released!

The phpMyFAQ team is pleased to announce the first preview of our next generation release, phpMyFAQ 2.5.0-alpha, the “Yes, we kicked PHP 4 support finally” release. This release changes the PHP requirement to PHP 5.2 and introduces the new and improved new basic layout theme. We added RSS feeds for every category and the ability to copy and duplicate FAQ entries. The template engine now supports blocks in template files. A public user registration was added and we improved the user administration frontend. Do not use this version in production systems, but test this version and report bugs!

The phpMyFAQ Team would like to announce the availability of phpMyFAQ 2.0.7, the “Whit Monday” release. This release adds a Bengali and an Ukraine translation. The Czech translation was updated and we fixed some minor bugs.

Today I switched our own FAQ from phpMyFAQ 1.6.11 to the upcoming 2.0.5 release. It worked like a charm and I also used the new 2.5 layout. :-)

Like other projects phpMyFAQ will stop the support for PHP 4 on February 5, 2008. So phpMyFAQ 2.0 will be the last PHP 4 version, phpMyFAQ 2.1 2.5 will need PHP 5.2 and will be released next year.

The phpMyFAQ Team would like to announce the availability of phpMyFAQ 2.0.1, the “right to freedom of assembly and association” release. This release fixes the broken update script, some bugs with the basic permission level, PHP segfaults with Zend Optimizer extension, and updates the Japanese translation. We also fixed many minor bugs.

New bugtracker added

Today I added a bugtracking system on our homepage. We’re using now the bugtracker from thinkforge.org where we’re having also our CVS system. Please use bugs.phpmyfaq.de for all bug reports. We’re closing the bug reporting board as soon as possible.
